This past week has been one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences for the Norvic Guards Security team. We had the privilege of providing professional event security for the highly anticipated Banksy Exhibition hosted by the Urban Art Store at The Undercroft in Norwich.

Banksy’s work is renowned worldwide for its thought-provoking messages and iconic style, and bringing such an exhibition to Norwich is a huge cultural moment for the city. With the arrival of priceless and delicate artwork comes the responsibility to protect it – and that’s where our team stepped in.

From the moment the exhibition opened, our focus was on three core goals:

  1. Safeguarding the artwork – Banksy’s pieces hold significant cultural and financial value. Our trained team ensured they remained secure at all times.

  2. Crowd safety and visitor management – The exhibition attracted art lovers, tourists, and curious locals. We helped manage queues, maintain a smooth flow of guests, and created a welcoming environment for everyone.

  3. Delivering a professional and friendly presence – Security isn’t just about vigilance; it’s also about customer service. We’re proud that visitors felt both safe and comfortable during their time at the exhibition.

Working alongside the Urban Art Store and the venue team at The Undercroft was a fantastic collaboration. We’d like to extend a big thank you to Lee and everyone involved for trusting Norvic Guards with this important responsibility.

Events like this highlight why experienced and adaptable security is so vital. Every venue has its own unique challenges, from safeguarding assets to managing large, enthusiastic crowds. At Norvic Guards, we tailor our approach to match the event’s needs, ensuring safety without detracting from the experience.

For the Banksy Exhibition, that meant being highly visible and approachable, ready to assist visitors, and prepared for any situation – all while respecting the artistic atmosphere of the event. The positive feedback we received from guests and organisers alike has been incredibly rewarding for our entire team.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, we highly recommend it. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a Banksy fan, or simply looking for something different to do in Norwich, the exhibition at The Undercroft is a must-see. It’s an opportunity to enjoy world-class art right here in our city – and we’re proud to play a part in making it safe and enjoyable for everyone.

At Norvic Guards, we provide professional, trusted event and venue security services across Norwich, Norfolk, and beyond. If you’re planning an exhibition, festival, or private function and need experienced security personnel, we’d love to talk.

Looking back at the 2025 exhibition

This account records our work with Urban Art Store at the Banksy exhibition in August 2025. Our social posts during the exhibition and afterwards thanked Lee and the team for having us. The invitation to visit in the original report referred to that occasion; it should not be read as current opening information for a continuing exhibition.

The experience highlights a useful distinction for exhibition planning. Protecting an artwork and welcoming its audience are connected tasks, but they are not identical. An organiser should explain the expectations for both, including how visitors can ask questions and how staff should report a concern without unnecessarily interrupting the gallery.

Make the venue familiar to the team

A briefing can explain the layout, public routes and the parts of the programme likely to change visitor movement. Temporary exhibitions deserve particular attention because personnel may be working in a familiar building with a different arrangement of displays. Instructions should reflect the installation visitors will actually encounter.

The gallery team’s knowledge is valuable here. Curators, visitor staff and organisers understand the intended experience and can identify where security support will be most useful. A collaborative discussion helps everyone agree the division of responsibilities before opening.

Carry the learning forward

An exhibition review can consider how information was shared, whether visitors received consistent directions and whether any adjustments would improve future arrangements. The aim is practical improvement, supported by observations from the people who worked at the venue.

Norvic’s account of the Banksy exhibition remains a specific example of supporting a cultural event in Norwich. It does not imply an ongoing appointment by the artist or an endorsement from every organisation associated with the works. Our relationship described here was with the event and venue team. We welcome enquiries from organisers seeking similarly considered support for their own exhibition.

A useful, focused first conversation can establish the venue, programme and proposed duties before looking at agreed personnel requirements, timings and the information needed to prepare an appropriate brief for the team attending.
